“Before my LLB scholarship, I was an Ogier legal secretary. Now, I’ve completed my PPC (and was valedictorian!) and have recently commenced Articles. Ogier’s unwavering support through part-time work, parenthood, and study pauses has been invaluable, proving they truly value me from day one. ”Brooke Fitzgerald, Articled Clerk
Articled Clerk Programme
We take on Caymanian Articled Clerks each year in our Cayman office. We are looking for the very best trainees to join us: the next generation of our firm must be collaborative and tech-savvy with strong academics and be ready to drive our business forward.
Operating to the standards set by the Cayman Islands Attorney General and Legal Advisory Council, we aim to give our Articled Clerks the opportunity to develop their understanding of legal practice together with an insight into their future as an Attorney.
Run over 18 months, the contract is based on rotations in different departments, known as 'seats', which last from 3-6 months. Current seats include:
· Banking & Finance
· Corporate
· Dispute Resolution
· Investment Funds
Progress is formally reviewed at the end of every seat with Articled Clerks being required to complete and maintain an online training diary housed within our Develop With Ogier system. The diary is based on each seat checklist, covering areas of Cayman law in which you must become proficient within during your training. Progress is reviewed regularly so you'll have the opportunity to reflect on your development and ensure that you succeed from the outset.
For an Articled Clerk placement to be considered, students must have achieved a 2.1 or higher final result in their degree course, and either a commendation or distinction in their LPC/PPC.
Applications for our Articled Clerk programme are invited year-round. For the application process you will need to provide the following:
· Cover letter and Resume
· Transcripts of grades
· Degrees/Qualifications
· 2 References less than 6 months old
· Colour copy of your passport picture page
· Proof of Caymanian Status
Applications should be emailed to: Caymanlegalrecruitment@ogier.com
If your application stands out, you will be invited to attend an interview. All interviews are conducted in person or via Teams.
